Your two yr old is jealous. If I were in your place, I would give the puppy away before you become too attached.

Animals can get very jealous when a new member comes along. That means that they are not the center of attention. And, to them, that bites. Kind of like kids.
Reply:I just answered your question regarding the new puppy. You have two children. The older one is jealous. Play with them both and interact with them at the same time. Spend some alone time with the older one when the baby is napping. Buy him/her a new toy. I take mine to the pet store. They love the extra attention.

Just treat them like two children and you will be fine. Before long they will be rolling on the floor together having a great time. Take them both out in the yard and toss a ball for them.

You are just being too nervous. Settle down mom!

Reply:Okay, here it goes - what you don't want to hear.

"You need to stop treating the dogs like they are children. They are dogs. They need rules, boundaries and limitations." (Cesar Millan)

The 2 year old needs to know it's not okay to attack the puppy. Keep the older dog on a leash during those initial interactions. There's nothing more nerve racking than an out of control dog attacking a puppy, especially when you love them both. Both dogs need to have you as the leader. If you come to them with a mentality that you are the mommy and not 'pack leader' you set yourself up for a neurotic dog.

Think of yourself as their queen/king. You rule the house. They need to do what you say. I'm not suggesting you stop loving them, but just like children, they need rules for their own saftey. You wouldn't let human children get away with making YOU do all their homework, right? You make THEM do their homework. Similar attitude with training your dogs. They need to learn obedience so they can see you as the leader and basically do their job of being the loving followers.
Reply:it's probably jealous. Make sure you give the older one lots of attention too.
Reply:You should give both of your dogs the same attention. The 2 year old will get used to it and everything will go back to normal.Just be patient.
