What can I do with my 5 and 3 year old well they are on school vacation?

I have a 5 and a 3 year old. There school is going on vacation in anther week . We live in a small town with ahrdly anything to do so I was wonder what I could do with them . I do plan on taking them out side in the snow to play if the weather will let us.

What can I do with my 5 and 3 year old well they are on school vacation?
Look in your phone book "community pages" there are usually events posted as well as local museums, galleries and famous homes. As an example I found a doll museum and train museum with in 2 miles of my home and I had no idea until I looked that they were so close (I have lived in the same area for 10+ years). You will be surprised at low cost and free sites to explore. Additionally you can do fun projects at home like the "Home Zoo" round up the kids stuffed animals and pretend it is the zoo - have 2 or 3 interesting facts abut each animal as well as practice what sounds they make and explore what foods they eat. My kids love "Movie Time" you get out a favorite DVD - pop popcorn and all sit on the couch like you are at the movies - after go in to the kitchen and play restaurant to talk about the movie and different things you noticed this time over the last. Finally there is the Library always a great adventure - check out books, participate in story time and some even offer crafts and contests. Good Luck!
Reply:Baking together is fun! My 5 yr old loves to help. Make a hanging flower garden out of construction paper...then turn on some music and dance. This is also a perfect time to work on phonics.
Reply:finger paint, chalk boards, color books and puzzles. Stickers, balls and videos. Hit the 99 cent only store or the dollar tree for ideas.
Reply:How about getting involved in a book club or story time group? Do they have those in your area?
Reply:i love painting with my sons. thats a lot of fun. they are four and a half and three years old. they have lots of fun with paiting and crayons. they also like to help me bake and cook. think of meal ideas where they can help. they will love that. good luck and have fun.
Reply:Go on a scavenger hunt for things in nature or around the house. Bake or cook something. Have a pizza %26amp; movie night. Go to the local co-op and see if the have chicks in yet (or bunnies) You don't have to bring any home-it's just fun to see the different kinds. Visit a farm- find out what they farm and how it gets to the market. Got to the pet store (the baby zoo. It's free and interesting to small kids) Put out a bird feeder and see what visitors you get (get a bird ID book) Go watch the trains go by (have them count the cars-my dad had us do this and now he loses us when he's talking if a train goes by during the conversation.) Go to the town museum-learn about your local history. Take your baked treats to the senior center-they love visitors and they may have some good stories to tell or skills to teach.
Reply:then that is the perfect time for bonding
