My puppy was stolen How long do you wait to replace him???

Hi We had a 9 month old Pug but sadly it was stolen.

My daughter is cruched. And all shes been asking when he coming home. How long should I give it befor I get anther 1???

My puppy was stolen How long do you wait to replace him???
I'm sorry about your puppy. How do you know he was stolen? I would wait at least one month to make sure that he is not coming back.

Please! Do not leave the next one unattended!
Reply:have you tried all of the avenues to get it back contacted the local animal rescue societies such as the RSPCA, Battersea Dogs Home, SSPCA etc with her details so that they can keep a look out for a dog matching your dogs description??

Have you thought about putting up posters in your local area asking for information on your dogs dissapearance, sightings etc or gone to your vets and put up a card on their noticeboard?

Was your dog microchipped ??

It must be horrid to lose a much loved pet this way i would go down all avenues first and wait a while what if your dog turned up ?

Good luck anyway
Reply:H I really feel for you that's awful i would wait awhile and go knocking on doors also call any dog mags and put in an article about he missing puppy you may well get him back! good luck!
Reply:I'm sorry that this has happened to you.

The best advise is to explain to your daughter that the dog has been stolen and may not come back, Try to put it in a nice way so that your daugher doesn't fret and think that your dog is in danger.

Wait until your daughter is ready to accept another dog.

The best thing to do is talk to your daughter and see how she feels, when she is ok with it then get her to go along and pick out a puppy.
Reply:It's not a nice thing an animal you love has been stolen. If your daughter is young you could always get one that looks like the previous one and say you have found her! Remember to put up posters saying you've lost a puppy. Good luck, I hope you do find the lost one x
Reply:I am so sorry for you and your daughter. I just read that someone stole Vanessa Williams' yorkie in New York yesterday. It seems that no one's pets are safe. Please make sure you report it to the police. You are probably not the only one who this has happened to. I would wait for a couple of weeks just to make sure he's not coming back. (You never know). After that, I would go and get a new one. Again, I'm very sorry for your situation.
Reply:definitely tell your daughter the truth; say it in the nicest way possible though, say that some1 else really wanted the dog and that you're going to get her a new one. If the dog is returned/found, say that the person spent enough time with the dog and decided to give it back, but make sure you keep the newest dog safe also.
Reply:I'm so sorry 2 hear that Therese some cruel people out there, no1 can say how long you have to wait if you and your family are ready to get another puppy than u go un get 1 just remember there personalty not be the same ,but you will love it just as much ,good luck ,
Reply:Well, first of all are you sure he's been stolen?

If so, how did he get stolen in the first place?

I would go to the police and try to get him back, put up posters with a picture of your dog, his name etc. If your lucky you'll get him back. Also, has he been micro-chipped?

If so tell the police, who would contact the vets within a certain amount of miles around, if he's micro-chipped you've got more of a chance of getting him back.

If you've had no luck by the end of summer then maybe it would be time to get another puppy. (I'm not sure how long you'd have to leave it, maybe you'll be told)

Just, PLEASE don't do whatever it was you did this time either with this pup, if you get him back or with the new one, otherwise you might end up with another pup that's been stolen!
Reply:well if it was stolen then right away. BUT if it got loose and ran away, give a week or two.
Reply:I've been told with dogs that you should replace them straight away, my next door neighbour did and she's happy. I personally am not sure how healthy it is but I don't see why not, why hurt if you can easily do something about it?
Reply:First off I think I would be working on trying to find my dog rather than worrying about when to get another dog!!!

I then would work on making sure the next dog didn't get stolen!!!!! You should never let a dog outside unsupervised!!!!! No matter how old the dog is!!

Unless you have a fenced in yard you need to go out with that dog!!!!!!!

Make sure the next dog is supervised at all times!!!!

Tell your daughter that some bad people must have taken your dog and you are trying to find it!!!!!

Are you sure it was stolen??? Did it just run away?????

Have you put up signs?? Have you run ads in the paper for lost dog???? Ads on the radio for lost dog???

There are really dangerous people out there that just love to steal peoples dogs and sale them to places that run all kinds of terrible test on them!!!! They get paid good money for pure breed dogs!!!
