I am moving and im worried about the disruption to the kittens?

I have one cat already and i got anther kitten about a week ago, i now found out im moving in a week. Im worried about the stress it will put on the new one for moving yet again. He has settled down very nicely this week. And the other one im sure will be better, but it is yet anther change - the kitten was hard enough the first couple of days.





Please give me some tips to help!! i know to keep them in 1 room for a few days... but what about the day i move etc.... THANKS

I've been in this exact situation, and the cats were fine with the move. Sure, keep them restrained (in carriers or in a single room) during the actual process of moving your furniture, etc. into the new place, because this will prevent them from running off while your doors are open, but as soon as everything is moved in, let them roam. Especially for the kitten, everything will be a new adventure, and he'll even "help" by jumping in and out of the boxes as you unpack them.





Make sure to unpack their littebox early, and they'll be happy whereever you are... cats are less interested in "places" then they are their "people".

don't worry too much about the stress on the little one, cats and kits are fairly resilient. You will be more stressed I guess.


yes when you get to your new home do keep the cats in one area. I moved with 9 cats and of course worried! Hopefully your kit and cat will bond which will help both of them.


The day you move put the cats in carriers and place them somewhere quietish! You could ask a neighbour to hold on to them for a while if it is all too hectic. Or you could consider putting them in a good cattery for a few days until you get straight.

Reply:I have moved with my cat 3 times, and she did fine. you don't have to keep them in one room. it actually is better for them to get a fell for the new place as soon as you move.

If they get put in a box by the removals guys, you may not find them for weeks or months, and only then because of the smell.
Reply:It would actually be better for them to get it over with now before the kitten gets too used to your house. Use seperate cat carriers and make sure that they don't escape while the door's open, my cat pulled a fast one last time we moved.

Reply:Hi, I have had to move my cats several times it's not easy, I used a cat carrier they love to be in small spaces so the day you move borrow or buy 2 and have them in these till your ready to put them in their room. Let them roam the house while your there. I lost a cat when I moved once because the girl I shift in with had a male cat also and my cat just would not stay! he kept going back to my old house up the road, an old lady ended up taking him in and I would visit every so often. So yeah take care and the carriers come in handy for the vet and when going on holidays at shelters, my cat sleeps in hers while we are gone so the lady tells me! Moon
Reply:Keep them in their carriers. They may not like it but it will keep them safe until people stop going in and out, then let them out in the room that you chose
