Reply:Caiman are close to the alligators. They are in one family together and crocodiles are in another family within the order Crocodillia. The last family is the Gavalidae with one species Gavialis gangeticus found in India.

Reply:There are 4 animals in the order crocodilian. There are crocodile, alligator, cayman, and gavial.
Reply:There are between 23 and 30 species of living crocodylian, depending on how some groups are split up - crocodiles, caimans, alligators, gharials.

(Addendum to one of the comments above - Diplocynodontinae is not within Alligatoridae. I know wikipedia says it is, but it isn't - and I should know, since I came up with the name Diplocynodontinae in the first place in 1999!

Also - whether false gharials are gavialoids or crocodylids is controversial.)
Reply:The family Crocodilian includes Crocodiles, Alligators, Cayman, and Gavials. The Gavial is the only one that eats exclusivly fish.
