Does that player tell his new team some inside information from his old team- like what kind of game plan they had and special plays and all the other good stuff, or is it against 'the code' and he keeps it a secret?
When a player is traded to anther team and they meet in the playoffs?
He'll tell. I remember during a shootout this year, Rangers Flyers, Danny Briere was at the bench telling Biron what Drury would do. And sure enough, Biron seemed to know exactly what Drury would do and made an easy stop.
I'm sure they'd share to help playoff success.
Reply:Yea, no question about it. Just remember that Hockey is not like Football hand signals and EXACT plays and routes make up most of the team's strategy, hockey has some more general plays and breakout scenarios. Also, in the playoffs a coach would try and structure his teams play with that fact in mind and try to put something together which would alleviate any "edge" that would be given by their opponent having a former teammate.
Remember that this is a rare situation though since normally sellers are not going to make the playoffs and if they will, they will normally try and trade the player to a team in the opposite conference.
Reply:in any sport they would do that. and what code. if he tells is the gestapo goin to kill him. he'll do whatever he needs to do to win. and THAT'S why the cup changes everything(for anyone who watches versus).
Reply:As far as I know, there isn't a code or anything. The player should be aloud to tell his new team his former-team's plays..
Reply:I'm sure they'd share this info with their teammates if it means getting a step closer to winning the Stanley Cup.
Reply:sure he does. this happens in all sports. baseball players will help their new team steal signs too. that has always been a big problem.
Reply:YEAH/. Why not whatever it tkes to win
Reply:yeah.. it's a good advantage, that's for sure.
