HOw do I convince the Dr to give me anther sonogram?

I am 21 weeks along. I had my standerd ultrasound at 19 weeks and they could not tell the sex of the baby. When I went back to the Dr and asked for a ultrasound to tell the sex he said I could not have any more.

I really want to know the sex anyone else had this happen? How do I get anther one?

HOw do I convince the Dr to give me anther sonogram?
You'll have another at 28 weeks most likely...then again at 32 weeks...other than that they usually dont like to give them to you. But if you tell him your having pain and the baby hasnt moved and your really worried he may give you another one soon. But you have to keep in mind that they still not be able to tell the sex and even if they think they know theres no way to be 100% until the baby is born. When i went at 20 weeks they could only tell me 80% that they thought it was a girl. So if your really wanting to know now Id go with the pain story but if you can wait you'll probably have another in 6-7 weeks.
Reply:say you had slight spotting and sharp pains...everytime this happened to me they rushed me in to have an ultrasound!!
Reply:you will have to pay to go private, these can cost £50-£150 depending on if your want 2D, 3D, 4D and whether you want pictures or dvds
Reply:An ultrasound is a very expensive medical test, which someone has to pay for -- either the individual or her insurance.

Insurance companies do not want to dish out money for unnecessary tests. And it causes everyone's premiums to go up. Personally, I don't want to pay more for my insurance just so people can find out what they are having.

Also, if they can't see the genitals again, then it's just wasted. AND an ultrasound isn't even always accurate.

Your doctor doesn't want to get into trouble with the insurance company for fraud, for ordering a test that is not medically necessary.

The best way to get another sonogram is to pay for it yourself. If you want a test that is not medically necessary, that's how it should be.
Reply:Unless the doctor has a reason to be concerned about the baby, most likely they will not schedule another sonogram.

I am in a similar predicament as you. They think it is a girl, but I wasn't too sure from the picture. So I'm going in to get a 3D/4D ultrasound this month to find out the sex (which can be done better with a 3D. For another 2D ultrasound it is 75 dollars. But for what I'm doing it is $185, but it's worth it to us. We are excited to get a video of our sweet baby and to see what she might look like, plus confirm that it really is a girl and we can decorate our nursery the way we want.
Reply:Have a surprise!
Reply:You unless its medically necessary. Sorry, you just going to have to be surprised.
Reply:Id say i was having really sharp pains in my side when you go back in and tell them there really cramp like and you havent felt the baby move in a few days...its a huge lie but it should get you another sonagram...then they will be able to tell what your having goodluck to you! or you could just askf or a 4d one...they cost 150 dollers
Reply:You might not be able to have another ultrasound due to your insurance company. They might only pay for one ultrasound. I had one ultrasound and wanted another, but was told I would have to pay for it out of pocket. Call your insurance company, or try to get your doctor to "fudge" the reason why you need an ultrasound. Some companies will do it if it's medically necessary.
Reply:You can pay for one, you can call places that do them and ask to pay cash, go to your doctor and tell him you want to have another ultrasouind done in your favor, they cannot deny you one if you ask. I have asked bluntly with my second child and never got denied.

You have the right to know what you are carrying but some doctors dont like to make appointments for another ultrasound unless the patient is paying cash.

Or you can act like you want a 3d ultrasound get a precription for one go to your local hospital and just use your insurance, works everytime LOL
Reply:I had that situation. I agreed to pay for it privately (insurance would not). It was about $110 (but that was 10 years ago).

They will pay for 3 that are medically justifiable. Finding out the sex of the baby is not. The doctor wants to save the 3 he has for complications that may arise toward the end.
