"Government is competent when all who compose it work as trustees for the whole people. It can make constant progress when it keeps abreast of all the facts. It can obtain justified support and legitimate criticism when the people receive true information of all that government does."
Anther quote from 1933. Is it really a different time and not in context to today?
*Yoru quote is timeless...
Instead of being a servant of the people, government is now master of the people.
How does that role change? How does your dog, become your master?
Reply:It SHOULD have contemporary context, but just watch the rightwing (you know, the "Little Government" party) come out to deride this quote, calling it socialist, marxist, communist, whatever they can to promote fear and division in the US.
