Tanks Yahoo's custmer .Is Africa's poverty lack of resource or method of allocating resource or anther?

The U.S. and developed countries give Billions in aid to African countries, Billions in debt relief has been granted over the years- but the situation does not change. Lack of natural resources in some nations is true, but other wealthy nations have a lack of natural resources- Japan/Israel are good examples. Here are some reasons why, some may be politically incorrect and offensive to some people, but I will list every possible reason I can think of.

1. Lack of natural resources for some nations, and the inability for other nations to add value or convert those resources to demanded and profitable goods.

2. The general feeling of the people that something should be given to them. Who gave "Rich" coutries the knowledge to be successful economically.- the answer is themselves.

3. The culture is not one which promotes entrepreneurship.

4. The culture is not fiscally responsible. For e.g. a family will have many children without being able to financially support them.

5. High crime rates

6. Corrupt governments.

7. The majority of the population is uneducated- they should be educating themselves, but for some reason think it is the developed nations' responsibility.

8. Knowledge flight- Educated and talented individuals flee their homeland to make money in developed nations.

9. Over-population: with no control to curb the population.

10. Lack of emphasis on education.

11. No incentive for companies to establish operations there- Except for mining- why would any company want to locate there? all the reasons above explain it.

12. The inability of its citizens to form organizations that can pool resources, add value to those resources, then sell those resources.

using an example: i think people in Africa (sorry for the generalization - ignorance makes it impossible to be more specific....) were always given the cake but never the recipe. Once the cake is finished the situation goes back to the start. your choice to believe whether this is a result of some political manipulation or just lack of vision...
Reply:Africa's poverty is the result of world debt.

Africa's over $300 billion debt burden is the single biggest obstacle to the continent's development. Most of this debt is illegitimate, having been incurred by despotic and unrepresentative regimes.

African countries spend almost $14 billion annually on debt service, diverting resources from HIV/AIDS programs, education and other important needs. The U.S. and other rich countries have resisted calls to cancel this debt, instead proposing partial solutions that are inadequate and impose harsh economic policies on indebted countries.

Africa Action’s Campaign to Cancel Africa’s Debt mobilizes pressure on the U.S. government to push for 100% debt cancellation for all impoverished African countries without harmful conditions
