im not sure but i think your trying ot network the two PC's together. if you are then off you "modem" there should be another slot behind it where you can plug in your network cable. run it to your computer and you should be ok. if it only has one then you need ot get a switch connect your modem to your switch the switch will then split the signal to both your computer. the nice thing about a switch it doesnt split your bandwith it outputs the same amount of bandwith to both computers so it is pretty nice.
Reply:get a router (like: Netgear Wireless Router (WGR614) )

connect it to your modem, and connect both of your PC's to it.
Reply:i presume you mean a broadband adsl modem, well this is how you run 2 p.cs from your modem

first you need a ethernet lead long enough to reach to the location of your 2nd computer, you can buy a ethernet lead from any computer shop, you need to ask for a ethernet(or network,rj-45) and also tell them you want a straight lead, not crossover

then you need to make sure you have the modems software disk which contains all the drivers ect for your modem

now roll out the ethernet cable from the modem to your 2nd computer and then plug the one ned into the modem and the other end into the

network socket on your 2nd p.c,this is ussually next to the two usb ports underneath the mouse and keyboard ps2 sockets

now the ethernet lead is connected, you need to install the modem software exactly the same as when you installed it on your 1st computer,if your asked what connection you are using, answer it "ethernet"

once the disk has finished installing, then you should(in theory)be able to go online on your second computer

the same method can be used for a third computer if required, and so on

wireless connections are similar, except for a few minor differences, follow instruction during installation

note:the blue lead you were describing in your question is a u.s.b connection lead, these are slower than the ethernet lead but not by much,so dont disconnect it

any problems mate let me know

good luck
Reply:If your modem is "external" such as a DSL, there should be more than one connection available. If so simply connect BOTH computers to the modem.

If there is only 1 connection, then add a "switch" between the modem and the computers and connect them both to the switch.

If the modem is "built-in" or "internal" set up an ethernet connection between the two computers and use the ICS (internet connection sharing) on the one that has the modem. NOTE: The one with the modem MUST be on for the other one to access the internet.

There ae other ways, but these are the easiest!

See the OS "help" for further information as HOW this is done varies with the OS on the system(s).
